About us

We're Dan and Shelly, a husband-and-wife team from the Canadian Prairies with cameras in hand and an eye on the sky.

We met in 2011. With a common interest in photography, we sett out to capture the scenic beauty of the Canadian prairies. In 2012, we added storm chasing to the mix and never looked back. Dan handles the forecasting and the driving while Shelly watches radar and navigates, though out on the road, you quickly learn that radar only tells you what already happened. The rest is instinct, patience, and knowing where to look. Our first tornado touched down in an open field with nothing but cows and was rated an exciting EF0!

Dan gravitates toward panoramas (his nickname is Pano Dano), finding the expanse and complexity of a good 'DanoPano' more intriguing than a single frame. Shelly leans toward the elegant simplicity of individual frames and has a growing interest in motion photography. Together we cover everything from the raw tension of a supercell to the stillness of the Milky Way on a clear prairie night.

We chase storms when life allows, and photograph everything else in between.
